When the rare encounter the exceptional
PIGMENT by Warehouse TERRADA

These last years, number of artists using traditional techniques has decreased. PIGMENT offers a wide range of difficult high quality tools to find and they also hope to encourage contemporary artists to use them. PIGMENT holds workshops taught by art professionals in weekends for beginners to professionals. I interviewed Taichi Iitsuka of Warehouse TERRADA on their wondrous collection of merchandise. They gathered rare pigment like cochineal reds made from dried insects, Lapis Lazuli, oxidized coppers with the most fractional color differences and incredible brushes, made with peacock feathers, goat’s hair or squirrel fur. They have traditional papers some of which have existed since the Meiji era. They support Sumi (Ink Sticks) craftsmen and develop their own ink. Most of the products are from Japan, some are collected around the world by researchers quest to unearth rare pearls. It’s amazing to see an exceptional collection in one place !
