Studio Banana’s approach to innovative solutions and fascinating design

There’s a unique ethos at Studio Banana – “fail, and fail again better next time.” Members work in a safe atmosphere that tolerates failure as a result of challenging. Ali says the key to innovation is to create a comfortable space that enables people to be open-minded for change. Their tenacious strategy to product-out initial concepts is often referred to as “creative disruption.”

Diverse members work together in different offices worldwide. Each are active individuals that would “backpack to India at age 16.”

At the studio, professionals from different disciplines team up for each project. The chemistry of collaboration is what triggers change and innovation. That’s why for instance they dispatch members to lecture outside or run Studio Banana TV, an in-house produced media, so they can meet people outside the studio. What’s also interesting is how diverse and physically apart they are from one another and still be so successful. Ali points out the importance of sharing a strong vision and sympathizing each others’ differences and being culturally flexible.

Collaborate, explore and learning from failure. I felt the positivity and open-mindedness of the studio that Ali described “Academic.” It’s surely important for us to keep enhancing our expertize, but in order to win the competition, we must breakthrough our comfort zones, start collaborating and learning from key persons outside our offices.
